We were then advised that linen could be provided.at the cost of 100 pounds for a 2 night stay!!!! Ridiculous. We called to ask about linen and were told that there was none - we asked what were we supposed to do when we had travelled so far with 4 children. On entering the caravan became aware that there was no linen - you could basically see the basic wooden structure of the beds. We had to find our own caravan on the site! No-one available to provide an overview of site or local attractions/amenities. Eventually managed to speak with the manager of the site on the day of the booking! No reception service, basically turn up at caravan and caravan door was left unlocked and keys left inside. There was zero communication following the booking (which was months before) - to the point we were concerned that when we turned up we wouldn't have a booking. Although have to mention there are other sites on the island with great views. One was at St Andrews and all was great - great location service caravan was clean and modern, came with linen & incredible views! Then came this one at Millport! The only thing this site has got going for it is the island - which is beautiful. We travelled from Australia to visit family and did 2 caravan holidays on the trip. TripAdvisor, not sure how this Park merited 4.5 star rating? Isle of Cumbrae you were great, owners of Millport Holiday Park/ rented vans, you have let your beautiful island down. I have caravanned for many years and thankfully never had such a disappointing experience. On eventually finding elusive owner I was handed a black bin bag of assorted, threadbare, worn out unironed bedding (not professionally laundered) of which 2 covers had to be returned as were dirty!!! (For extra charge ) I could go on!!!!! Owner was extremely unhelpful and unpleasant and to be honest the money was her priority not the comfort of her guests. Unfortunately I did not read small print and was obliged to hire bedding from owner of site/ vans. Such a disappointment!! Both caravans were old and shabby.cracked mirrors, torn net curtains, mismatched dishes, broken bed, filthy decking etc etc. Family had travelled from Australia and South Africa for this special get together. I was also in the party of 10 who booked 2 caravans at Millport Holiday Park on Golf Rd. Already looked into another caravan site in millport which has good reviews. Please be careful with shower if your in top site no. They only want your money then your left. This caravan site falsely advertises also the caravan we were in definitely not luxury and def no scenic views. Caravan was spacious though in lounge with 2 toilets. I tried to ring her to say about the shower but couldnt get hold of her and no return call. Gabrielle was nice on arrival but couldnt take your money quick enough then off. If I was staying here for a week I would have demanded another caravan. Millport caravan park, will NOT be staying there again, mirror cracked, mattresses the springs were sticking out, and the shower that was dangerous had s mind of it's own, kids couldnt get s shower, hardly any pressure from hot water in sinks and shower and when you thought the temp was ok it changed itself. Millport itself is a wonderful place to stay.
